Project 4
These properties were purchased in 2007 with outline planning permission
to convert the building into a two bedroom house and a four bedroom
house. The smaller of the two was started in the spring of 2009, once
the asbestos roof was removed from site by a specialist firm the works
could commence, the front wall had to be totally removed and rebuilt
using 200 mm concrete blocks and finished with original stone, as
there was no access to the rear of the property the construction of
the new roof including A frames was quite challenging.
Once the new roof was constructed the internal works could start,
the first floor was covered in pine floor boarding and the internal
wall constructed of timber stud walls insulated and plaster boarded.
Two bed rooms and a bathroom were constructed. The ground floor was
open plan with kitchen and stairs to first floor.
Project Pics
The second property started in spring 2010 had serious structural
faults therefore the front and rear walls had to be removed, these
were rebuilt using 200mm concrete block walls and faced using original
stone, A chimney was constructed so a wood burning stove could be
fitted. Two A frames were constructed in our work shop and installed
on site.
After the roof was fitted internal works could start, the floor was
constructed of pine floor boards and the walls using timber stud work
insulated and plaster board. Four bedrooms one en-suite and a family
bathroom were installed upstairs. A kitchen diner, lounge, utility
room and WC were constructed on the ground floor. This project was
completed in September 2010.
